Best 3 student music video- Analysis

This video is effective because it starts off with someone reading the newspaper ,then it shows two men wearing black and white striped top walking with a bag, the editing has been used effectively as the camera is faded to the newspaper and it gradually takes you to the next part which is when you can see them all sitting together , I think from here a story begins and it seems to go faster with the camera movements and the pace of editing. Also, they have edited the screening by making it look anime and it then seems like comedy music video also there is texts with the video to make it look very cartoon themed.

The composition was very well thought out because it seems appropriate to the music video and the story line. It makes it a good music video because there was many variety of shots and different shot sizes like freeze frames and low shots ,long shots and many others. The editing was very impressive as it suits the music video and it is communicating the comedy through the music video. It makes it a good video personally because it is very imaginative & creative and the songs really suited the story line which is important which I will need to consider when making my music video.I also think the mise-en-scene of this music video was good because two of the boys were dressed in black and white striped top which means they are thieves and this is a very good communication as in comedy they dress like this with a french hat and they added a black mask to give the finish look.
 Also, the one guy is wearing formal clothes showing he is different from them and it shows how well planned this was. Also, the lip-syncing was good at the start and this was more of rapping and it was successful however, at the end it seems to stumble and near the ending some seemed to be improvised. . Also, they was walking through the alley and singing to the camera which was effective.There was many special effects like text used which had a comic font which seems very suited in the music video.There was animation every 10 to 20 secs which was creative .Also, I liked the fact that they changed the setting as they has shots from jail and them singing to the camera and it was in a monochrome colour which was a very good idea as it was appropriate to the theme they chose- they also has shots which made them look more funny and they had some CCTV camera view which was clever and very appropriate to the song.At the end it had a perspective from the bag which was a interesting shot and at the end it had a close up at the chicken and ended with a circle black out which is typically used in comedy videos or comedy novels.The level I would give it a A+ as it met a lot of the criteria of a good music video and i have learnt to pick the right music genre and be creative and should be very well thought out.

This was a more of a slow/ sad song and it showed the girl had dies as we see two girls in front of a grave stone putting flowers, then we see a flashback about the girl but i wish they could of made it more clearer as it doesn't seem like a flash back. The editing was faded to each scenes and there was close ups and many shots were used in this music video which I need to consider when making my music video. Also, this song had alot of singing and for the chorus she was on the floor and it had a close up which looked very professional .There were cuts to the forest meaning how she wants to run away and it communicated very well. They also emerged two scenes together by fading them in together showing her feeling and it was done very well. I liked the fact it was all in a grey tone so that the misery or death is portrayed throughout the video .it was composed very well and planned well as it doesn't show improvisation . Furthermore, the green screen was blacked out with a little light and it should be a bit more careful with that and they only used 1 secs of that . The Mise-en-scene was good as they dressed up in dark colours as she wore black also the man. The use seemed very dull and sad which has portrayed this very well. The makeup was neutral and there was a change of scene to a bathroom as she was sitting in the bath with water which was suitable for the song and there was close-up shots . The story line then goes to the girl taking drugs and the camera was in out of focus to show the feeling that viewers get . Then the audience know how she may have died and it comes to a conclusion. At the end it the editing seems faster and it shows how she is feeling and it gets the audience thinking.I will give this music video a b+ as it shows some good shots however the use of green screen and some scenes could be improved.
