These are the few sketches of the CD within the Digi pack. The ideas are based on the music video so that it links with the digipack. As the video has a vibe about summer I came up with some ideas to include that aspect. Also, in the music video there are graffiti in the skate park so linking that with the digipack was important.

DigiPack Analysis 3

The colour scheme used throughout this album is monotone with black white and grey, both colors connotate royalty and mystery and also elegance and strength of a women. From the way her head is tilted, "Dangerous Women" you can instantly tell the fierceness of the look  as you can see pictures of the artist looking straight at the camera , this idea is also been shown on the CD where it is just plain black keeping it simple . However there is also the use of the head accessories shows her personality  which could connate innocence and purity.

In the front cover you can see Ariana wearing revealing clothes which looks sexual ,and it is interesting as she names the album "Dangerous Women" and it shows that she is proud to show ff her body and she is a women and it is not to get attention.
l positioning herself in a way that her body is evidently shown. The theory of the Male gaze can be discussed here in which Laura Mulvey talks about the audience views the artist from heterosexual males point of view. She might have done this to get rid of her young girl image and wanted people to see her as adult. The plain background and minimal writing on the cover connatates that she wants herself to be the center of attention. e.g. her name and album cover are not very visible on the cover.

In this music video ,there is only audio , and this is her song called "Dangerous Women"
She has her album name at the front with her signature of her name at the top , the font looks like it’s been written and also has a very girly element to it. Kurining has been used in her name which is her signature style and can be seen in a lot of her other albums.
These two fonts have also been use the listing of her song names in the back of the album, song name in kurning and song length in sunshine in my soul. The songs are aligned to the centre so there is less empty space and copyrights and warnings about pirating the album is also given in the back. The photo is zoomed in clearly showing her face , but as the star image goes she is known for head accessories in which her fans will buy it which promotes the album more.
I like the way the album follows one colour scheme and this helps in establishing the relationship between all three things and also how simple yet gripping and inspirational .

Digipack Analysis 2

n       This analysis I will be looking at Rihanna's album called "Loud".

The Front Cover

Rihanna's front cover is definitely eye catching as the colours used are bold and compliment each other well. The use of red connotes the idea of passion and seductiveness which could link to the lyrics of some of the songs.
The use of red objectifies Rihanna, especially due to the red lipstick that she is wearing which portrays her as a sexual object which makes her subject to the male gaze.
The cover compliments the typography as it says 'Loud' and the image supports this as red is a loud colour and the tone of her hair, red lips and blushed cheeks fill the image.
The beauty shot of Rihanna fills the whole cover so she is the whole image which in turn makes us focus on her, fulfilling the element of star persona since the cover is all her. I find it interesting that Rihanna has not included her name on the cover, however I believe that her star image is so strong that she does not need to.

The CD

The CD follows a floral theme which is first seen in the backdrop of the CD with Rihanna leaning across a red rose bush. The pale pink colour contrasts the bold red back drop which could signify another side to Rihanna and her music, a softer more gentle side. The CD contrasts Rihanna's front cover image especially as the pale colours on the CD vary from the bold provocative image

Red Hair and Red Lips attracts the Male Gaze.

Typography is simple and white to stand out among the bold background colours.
The images are provocative and attract the male gaze as Rihanna is dressed in underwear and is showing alot of skin. However she is dressed in white which connotes innocence and purity so it could demonstrate the difference in her music. In her music video, Red is common as it used as a correction, and which her digipack has a red theme going on showing connection and theme.

The back cover continues the pale pink theme that compliments the CD. The typography of the tracks listed are in the same font as the title 'Loud' which makes it consistent. Rihanna continues to build star persona as the majority of images are of her.
The poster continues the colour theme, being red. The bright red colour continues to symbolize lust and passion as well as making Rihanna the focus of the poster. In the middle poster Rihanna's eye contact is towards the audience which is to yield them in and is far more effective than the other two posters in my opinion. Also , this theme come from her song "Only girl in the world" which shows that the theme is Running through the music video and digipack. The text is simple and in capitals which automatically at a glimpse grabs your attention. The poster is also engaging as it says 'coming to a city near you' which makes the poster more personal to fans.

DigiPack Analysis 1

This is the artist Katy Perry Album named "Teenage Dream" and this is the Digi pack That I am going to analysis .

Does the design/layout reflect the style of the artist?

The design does reflect Katy Perry as her pop genre is quite feminine and fun-loving and the font and design is cheerful and reflects the whole “candy land” theme, with the “o”s being replaced with a white and red candy.

This also reflect the topic of star image as she is always presented as wild, fun and girly.  The whole design has impression/connotations which reflects her songs.

How is the packaging laid out?

What information does it give?  The cover has the name of the artist clearly printed at the top centre and the name of the album below the picture of Katy Perry. This I will be considering into my digipack. It also had a advisory logo telling us that some songs will contain some explicit content, as some have inappropriate lyrics which some audience might not like as it I not her target audience. Also, in our music video , there is no explicit language so I will not need to include this feature.  The track list contains all her singles in capital letters so it is easy to read. This page also has the company's logo at bottom right corner telling us who have produced her album, which I will include on my digipack.

What is the title of the album?

What meaning does it give to the image on the front cover – are they linked?  The title of Katy Perry’s album is “Teenage Dream” which is also the name of one of her singles in the album, and the cover images are linked to the single “California Gurls” also in the album. The name of the album “Teenage Dream” may connote a young males teenage dream with the provocative image of Katy Perry. The font style also has candy theme suggesting that her songs and herself is sweet. Also, links with the theme of Voyeurism as she uses her femininity as a main feature in her digipack.

How is the artist represented in the images?

The     Katy Perry’s digipak for her album Teenage Dream :  the main images are consistent to her music video for the single “California Gurls”. The images show Katy Perry on pink clouds as the theme of the music video “California Gurls” is a surreal interpretation of a candy land . She sexualised as she is naked but does have some innocents to her by her being on pink fluffy clouds. The surrealism also represents Katy Perry as youthful and fun-loving with the pink clouds and candy theme being consistent on each side of the digipak and the CD discs.

What colours are used and why do you think they might have been chosen?

The house colours that have been used are predominately pink, blue and red, they were chosen to correlate with the “California Gurls” music video. The baby pink and the baby blue are feminine and youthful and this is what Katy Perry represents. The pastel colours also make the image of Katy Perry stand out drawing the audiences attention towards her. The pastel pink and purple is shown through the music video and her digipack, this feature I will consider within my work.  The link is shown through the colours.
